Burglarproof Your Garage
01/12/2014 Back To BlogNeglecting the security of garage doors is practically a clear invitation to burglars to join you in the living room. Today, property crime has hit the roof and it is estimated that there are approximately 3.7 million house break-ins annually and a large percentage of thieves chooses to enter through garage entrances. There is no point wondering why if you consider that many homeowners really disregard the value of garage door maintenance and take little or no action whatsoever to burglarproof their garages.
Take action today - secure garage doors
Securing the garage doors is not obligatory but, if you like, a moral obligation of homeowners to their families and themselves. After all, if they wouldn't care about security, they wouldn't have installed garage doors at the first place. The whole concept of securing these entrances is to keep intruders away and today there are methods and products and you can choose which goods to get and when to add supplementary security devices. One thing, which is not negotiable though, is garage door service.
Installing CCTV systems and latches on the door is your choice but neglecting garage door repairs would be like leaving your front door practically open to strangers. On top of that you must make sure the remote is always kept in a safe place. If you want to make your life simpler, you can get remote controls in a tiny size that will fit in your keychain in order to carry it with you at all times. Leaving it in plain sight in the car, especially if you park outside, is really dangerous.
It will also be practical and helpful to install a light motion detector, which will turn on the minute it senses someone approaching and definitely turn off intruders, who don't like working under light. If you have windows, it's best to check their frames regularly and replace them immediately if the glass is broken. It would be better if they are in small size, which won't fit a human body and made of milk glass to keep prying eyes away.
